How do we get from Rome airport to the city center?

Rome has two main international airports: Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA) . Below I will show you how to get to the city center from these airports.


  1. Leonardo Express train

    • Description: Direct flight between Fiumicino Airport and Roma Termini Train Station.

    • Travel time: Approximately 32 minutes.

    • Departure frequency: every 15-30 minutes, depending on the time of day and day.

    • Ticket price: 14 EUR one way.

    • Ticket purchase: Online or on site.

    • Note: The train departs directly from the airport terminal.


  2. FL1 regional train

    • Description: A train departing from the airport that stops at several stations in Rome, such as Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina.

    • Travel time: Varies, depending on destination.

    • Departure frequency: every 15 minutes.

    • Ticket price: 8 EUR one way.

    • Note: This train does not stop at Termini station.


  3. Bus routes

    • Providers: SIT Bus Shuttle and Terravision , among others.

    • Route: Airport – Roma Termini train station.

    • Travel time: Approximately 60 minutes, depending on traffic.

    • Departure frequency: every 30-50 minutes.

    • Ticket price: 7 EUR one way, 13 EUR return ticket.

    • Ticket purchase: On the bus or online


  4. Taxi

    • Description: Official taxis are available at the airport exit.

    • Price: Fixed fare around 48 EUR to the city center.

    • Note: Always make sure you use an official taxi to avoid any inconvenience.



Ciampino Airport (CIA) – City Center


  1. Bus routes

    • Providers: For example, SIT Bus Shuttle and Terravision .

    • Route: Airport – Roma Termini train station.

    • Travel time: Approximately 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

    • Departure frequency: every 15-30 minutes.

    • Ticket price: Approximately 6 EUR one way.

    • Ticket purchase: Online or on site.


  2. Bus and metro combination

    • Description: From the airport you can take a local bus to the nearest metro station (Anagnina – Line A), and then take the metro to the city center.

    • Travel time: Approximately 60 minutes in total.

    • Ticket price: Bus ticket is about 1.20 EUR, metro ticket is 1.50 EUR.


  3. Taxi

    • Description: Official taxis are available at the airport exit.

    • Price: Fixed fare around 30 EUR to the city center.

    • Note: Always make sure you use an official taxi to avoid any inconvenience.

  • Ticket purchase: It is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance, especially for bus services, to secure your seat. There are ticket variations !
